This is a good school. I did have a few experiences with professors who weren't really available, but they do have fantastic resources.

Taking CNA classes with Kendal Valdez. She's an amazing Teacher. Very fair, very patient, and willing to listen. Can't say enough! I'm hoping my future teachers are this good. She sets the bar high!

Contrary to some of the negative reviews I have read, I have had one of the best experiences in my life attending Western Nevada College. I have never had a substandard class nor an inadequate instructor. In fact, my mentors have gone above and beyond to ensure my continuing success. The counseling department has always been available whenever I needed assistance. The tutoring department and the library, proved to be invaluable resources. I would highly recommend Western Nevada College to anyone pursuing an education. Thank You, William Gilroy

Some professors are good, and others like to be on their phone on social media during lecture time which is close to 3hours mind you. So the time she could be using to teach us each part of the human anatomy she spends on instagram and Facebook. Along with her inconsistency of teaching and rude habits she had not only wasted my time at this school, but takes no regard in how the material actually comes out. Sad that this isn’t the only teacher, one before her the class had to remind him to add assignments to the canvas days before being due and graded. Really decide who you want teaching you bio, anatomy 223 before picking the class because you may just have your time wasted as well as you money taken with no regards for you education.

Honestly unless you are taking available classes. You are fine but if you need independent studies good luck trying to get that threw the tech side and when they do give it to you. It only lasted a couple months and not the full semester. I was also referred to go to tmcc. What's really funny about that is they are trying to kick up enrollment and here they are trying to send me away. I'm so unhappy and done with this school not to mention this is my second semester straight of problems with the same people. They make you pay for the full experience but barely help you along the way. When you voice your concer they brush it off like it doesn't mean anything, and then barely listen to you when you ask for help. I'm dropping my classes and won't ever come back unless it's under different management. I was told the issue would be resolved but still hasn't even happened yet.

I've been attending classes for both degrees and self interest at WNC since 1986. Now my daughter is attending and getting an inexpensive start on her marine biology degree by working on her Associates of Science. Over the years, WNC has made many advancements and have grown their campus and program offerings. The campus has a very invited feeling and with the addition of Wildcat baseball, this college is a home run.
Community colleges are the best way to make an education affordable to anyone....that's assuming that as a high school student coming up, a parent actually did a little planning and started a 529 account and put $300/ year in for 5 years and applied to the state for each of the 5 years for the matching grant. Boom...$3000. that's enough to gain valuable work skills by working towards a number of WNC certificate programs from office administration to Welding. Most can be completed in one semester if you hunker down. For students discovering they need new or better jobs skills, or getting to a spot in their career that needs an Associate's degree for any further advancement, the tuition paid at WNC is half what you pay at a 4 year university...for the exact same classes. Everyone knows if you want an education, DEBT FREE, that you need to have some dedicated savings. Between that, FAFSA, scholarships and having numerous times slots and learning options that allow you to work while attending classes, it keeps a pay-as-you-education completely do-able and affordable. 6-9 credits a semester, with books, will run you about $900-$1400. If you budget $1500/semester, That is a minimal semester investment, to plug away at certificate or degree requirements that pay off with a better job, with much higher salary, than what you will ever earn with just a high school diploma.

If every high school student invested $3000 into their education after high school at community colleges, we would have an awesome base and upward mobile job market turning out highly educated students with certificates (or at least a solid foundation) in fields like office administration, small engine repair, welding, certified nursings assistant, EMT, Phlebotomist, bookkeeping, deaf Interpreter, Microsoft certification, early childhood education, metal working, collision repair, ground school or instrumentation certificates for pilot licenses.

Is saving or tightening your belt to fund $3000 (12-18 credits) in a college education that will get you a strong start in this world and lay the foundation for the rest of your job earning/career years really that hard? Drop the $100/month cable package or major contract phone carrier and go with an unlimited prepaid plan for $50-60/month. There's your $3000. This isnt forever...just for a year maybe two.
Yes it costs money to go to college, but Western Nevada College makes it within the reach of everyone who is willing to dig deep and make short term sacrifices, for life long gains.

Invest in yourself!
