If I could give this school negative stars I would. Do not send your kids here, they will get bullied and teachers/staff dont do anything about it, bullies get no consequences. Horrible experience being a student here.

Have a love hate relationship with this school. I just got lucky I met really cool people and SOME nice teachers. Other than that, 10/10 smoking spot

I love this school, 4 years of my life well spent. Made some lifelong friends and met some amazing teachers, I did notice that discipline here is very low. I had a bad few months in grade 11 and I was skipping a certain class all the time. The teacher sent me to the principle after not going to this class for a week, the principle whom I forget his name was if i believe Indian decent and didn't really care what I had to say and gave me a slap on the wrist(not literally haha) and sent me off. Literally no help at all, thankfully I smarted up and knew if i didn't change wouldn't graduate so I started going. But seriously that principle is useless the principle before him was much better. The Special Ed class was amazing and supportive here as I had a Learning disability( Basically I need to be taught how to do something 2 or 3 times before I can learn it) This school was good to me and I miss it a lot, time to grow up.

My experience at St. Basil's was better than my Chaminade and Weston CI experiences (it was my best post-grade 5 experience actually), but still far from great. I can remember some drug dealers, but not as many as some make them out to be. While I didn't experience much name calling, I did get shunned and ostracized like there was no tomorrow. I have also been pushed and shoved a couple times. Why did I experience these? It was because of my autistic traits (e.g. misinterpreting social cues, lack of eye contact, and stimming). On the other hand, I met a couple nice students who I played cards with and one of them even let me try out his lunch sometimes. My resource teacher was nice. I also liked my graphic design teacher quite a bit. I've attended their annual BBQ/party in 2018 and 2019 and the students were surprisingly nice!

Went here from 2013-2017, this school brought me many memories but it does suffer from many systemic issues that come with being in a not-so-safe area. Also, the school suffers from a lack of budget. School trips were rare, and classes were often cancelled just out of lack of classrooms or teachers.

Does very little or nothing for alumni. Standards and requirements for students used to be much stricter leading to a better reputation/respect for the school, the marks given to students & greater acceptance of graduates into any college or university they chose. Since becoming completely mainsteam in the TDSSB, requirements and expectations of students have dropped. Guidance councellor advice was very unsupportive, unclear, unencouraging, did not focus on student strengths or interests leading to wrong/failed college experience and *many* years of wasted life in wrong career paths. Most teachers were dedicated to the high quality education of the students but if a different mindset was presented, the teachers were let go or regulated to teaching subjects well below their skills.
