I academically think this place is good, however lot of the professors I've had especially in the Information Technology are nuts. However, i have a feeling that the professors in the biology department are friendly. One of the main reasons I didn't like RVCC is the degeneracy of the students and the politics of RVCC. People in RVCC are way too focused on finishing their classes and getting the hell out to work or back home. I also had countless bad experiences with students here and had a difficult time socializing here. I also think some professors gave too much homework, classwork and gave us labs we could not finish in class and we were stuck on it and no one knew how to finish the lab.

Am a graduate of the Social Work/Substance Abuse track, and I feel as though my professors scammed me.

I was continuously assured that people with their Substance Abuse Certificate were capable of working in the field - even without a degree - so I figured I'd have a leg up with my Associates as well.

Now that I am in the job market I am learning that most places are requiring a Master's degree to do the work my professors told me I would only need a Certificate for. Places who are looking to hire me are offering jobs which don't pay for the first three months due to not having a Master's and telling me I might not be kept after three months of work.

This is what happens when most professors who teach a path don't work in the field they're teaching about. I left this college woefully unprepared and undereducated about how the Substance Abuse field actually functions and I am left playing extreme catch up.

We just saw “The History of Comedy.” It was awful. So unfunny, we left at intermission, and so did a dozen others. Was there an audition? Who knows. And it cost us $96. Theater goers we are, and that was one of the worst experiences in recent memory.

Visited RVCC Arts center for the 28th annual Paul Robeson youth achievement awards. Each year the ceremony honors children of color in Somerset county who have excelled in the arts, athletics, academics and community service just as Paul Robeson did. The youth are also treated to an inspirational keynote speaker. Guidance counselors nominate the children and they must complete a college styled application including a topical essay as to how Paul Robeson's legacy has influenced their lives. A highly inspirational event.

I normally enjoy the shows at RVCC but had a very disappointing experience at the March 24th Beatles tribute show. One of the staff members singled out my visibly autistic brother, followed him around the entire show and was repeatedly telling him to sit down even though half the theatre was standing and dancing. He was not blocking aisles, exits or blocking anyone's line of vision. When she saw that he was with family she backed off but she completely ruined the show for him. We will likely not come back.
