Austin College is one of the colleges I'm considering after graduating from Grayson County Community College. I was given a tour today, and my guide was very knowledgeable. I can see myself as a student here in the near future.

I am not affiliated with AC. No one in my family has attended AC. My experience of AC is through a church-related senior high youth weekend hosted at AC each year. I started as an adult chaperone/sponsor for our youth then joined the event planning team. After 7+ years, I have come to love AC and its people. Everyone... simply. every. one... has been a pleasant person and servant-minded professional and the 100s of students I have dealt with have been nothing short of wonderful: bright, compassionate, amiable, and engendering hope and pride in the younger generation.

Austin College has never been anything, but a positive experience for me. As a sophomore, I’ve fallen in love with the academic opportunities on this campus. The class work may be challenging, but AC never leaves you without a support system. With small classroom settings, professors are available to help with lessons or assignments all throughout class. Office hours are always available for outside help and there are even of free tutoring opportunities.

As far as extra curricular activities, there are tons of them! Between Greek Life, personal expression clubs, language clubs and service groups… no interest goes unmet. If Greek life or clubs aren’t your thing, CAB (Campus Activity Board) makes sure there are events almost every night for students to take a break and relax with.

Campus life is great, but to help prepare us for graduate life as well, Career Services strives to get every student career-ready. They offer Career-Readiness Checks, mock interviews, internship opportunities, resume critiques and more to ensure that every student feels prepared for the real world after graduating.

Opportunities are endless here. I’m confident that by the time I leave Austin College, I will be better because of it.

I am going to be a rising sophomore here at AC this coming fall. There are many things about this school that I really enjoy, such as the ease of access to help and professors who care about you and their job. It is also a huge plus that I get to perform in the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. I have also met some of the best friends I have ever had since coming here. I feel like the academics of this school are really cared about and that is important.
I do, however, really wish that the cafeteria food and dorms would be better for what I pay, and that they were more flexible. I have had countless experiences that were a lot more difficult than they ever needed to be.

I enjoyed my time at AC (class of '07) and it has made a lasting positive impact on my life. Not only did I enjoy the academics and extracurricular activities, I also met my wife there. It is in no way a perfect school, but has many opportunities. I am back on campus at least once a year and they have made many improvements, since I went there. I come from a humble upbringing and got minimal scholarships, but paid off my loans quickly after graduate school. Thanks to Austin College I got a full ride to graduate school. Great opportunities to travel and learn languages. Some people have had bad experiences, but that could happen anywhere.

I'm currently a junior here and can honestly say if you get accepted to another school, make Austin College your last resort. It's overpriced for what little we receive. The food is horrible, there are limited things to do on campus, and you can only live off campus if you're a senior. The dorms are average, but way too old and smell of mold. The academic part of this school is lovely and I enjoy the class size and how close I am with my professors. But, this school needs a MAJOR update on its amenities.

I received a degree in Physics from Austin College in 2007. I really enjoyed my time there. The small size of the school enables a very personal relationship with the professors, and opens a lot of doors. I highly recommend this school. The campus is really pretty, even though some of the buildings are quite old.

A beautiful campus with the friendliest faculty, staff and alumni I have ever met in an education atmosphere. This is a school that is designed around student success, and therefore has a slightly different way of doing things, which is a breath of fresh air in the world of higher education. That said it is a school, and you have to apply you self to find true success here, so it's not for everyone. The results show though with one of the highest 4 year graduation rates in the country, and excellent job/graduate school placement.
