I ignored the bad reviews and the advice from people i know to not come to this place.
VERY BIG MISTAKE.
Started in 2022, First year Teaching quality was shocking. By shocking i mean the "Teacher" could barely read from a PowerPoint. Never mind actually teaching . Eventually we managed to complain and get him sacked . however after this we had a series of incompetent teachers who kept leaving every few months as well period of times where we had no teacher at all. This was just for one a level. The other A-level was literal the same , it seemed as if they hired anyone who could speak English!
There several issues with this place
The main purpose for college is for people to come and learn
If people can't even do this then there is something wrong!

Lack of understanding of trauma and retraumatising young people, also creating trauma of a situation they know absolutely nothing about. My daughter's been repeatedly told she isn't wanted on the course that she is on. Started at Hillsborough, told to change course and when she did it took them the entire summer before they told her she couldn't do the course she wanted. A week before the start of term she was told she needed to change course and go to a different college leading to mental healtj issues. Teachers talk about boundaries then call her darling and sweetheart constantly. They say safeguarding is a priority however refuse to acknowledge their own safeguarding issues and the impact they have on the mental health of the young people they "teach". Complaints procedure is none existent without going through 15 links on the Gov website. The place is a disgrace both Hillsborough and City. Won't speak to me now because everything I said in my last meeting has come true, of course it isn't the colleges fault though. If you're child is leaving care and therefore worth more funding then you're well in, if your child isn't leaving ca to e but is struggling they will try to force them out. The place is disgusting and I wonder how many of their students have needed up in crisis etc due to the treatment after a poorly run college. They try and gaslight parents so god only knows what they do to the students. Would give 0 if possible but will be taking things further, especially as they had a go at my daughter because they'd "had to deal with me". Unfortunately they don't take minutes or notes ineetimgs and don't do any of the actions they agree to that don't involve them getting funding. A college that do snt care, they even admitt d in a meeting that the people above teachers only think about money.....your own staff say you don't care.

Some teachers care, but only some. Assignments are a mess and barely anything is explained at all. When things are explained, they aren't explained well at all. Our class hasn't had a room for one of our classes almost all year and has had to do online classes.
Absolutely dreadful. I thought this was the norm but I have a friend on a similar course to me and they have had a way better experience and are appalled about the things I've told them.

I am delighted with Sheffield College’s Revive and Beauty Therapy Services.
You get greeted by an amazing member of staff -,Revive Administrator, Erica.
The experience enhances as you meet Paula and Kerry, the tutors.
The Revive students are all so helpful, so well trained and very professional. The team is just so wonderful and so understanding.
I can definitely say that the staff and students at Revive at the City College have helped me so much that I can’t praise them enough.
I want to say a big thank you to Paula and Erica especially for their help.
I feel more confident & happier.
Visiting Revive is definitely a special experience for me.
Thank you to the team at Sheffield College Revive & Beauty Therapy team. ?.

Really awful place visited for an open night, website information, tickets a farce signing in on lap tops, can't believe how rude a member of staff was, she should of looked up realised her victim was with an adult. Girls waiting for ticket holders as folk waited in a queue, poor welcome.
Really un organised once inside sent to the 2nd floor, not welcoming. Empty tables mess, no direction.
Postives we left alive never to return.

I was applicable for a travel bursary and was asked how I travelled, and I said I took the train. I was sent a travelmaster card with no instructions on how to use it so I went to student services and they informed me that It didn't work on trains even though it did. 3 months of back and forth with them and I finally got hold of someone who actually knew what they were talking about. There's probably only a handful of good tutors here too. Hated my experience here, I would not recommend it. There was also this law tutor who I had for the first year of college called Alex Goddard who completely obliterated my mental health and any hope of passing that course. So many students had issues with her and they kept her on teaching

Awful.
The college doesn’t care about the students and will even blame you for doing all your work on time and for having 0 work to do. I chose a course here (it was a level 3 diploma for IT) because I was told on their website that I would be doing a computer games development course (which is something I am heavily interested in) only to get told that we aren’t doing it. We also were supposed to have a trip to the National computer museum last November which we were told 3 days before the trip that it wasn’t happening because the college forgot to book any transport. Also in my 1st year, we were forced to resit an entire exam because the college somehow “lost” our exam results. The college doesn’t care about the students and only cares about what will make them money. The higher ups are acting like headless chickens and need replacing before this joke of a college goes bankrupt. It’s not fair on any students dedicating 2 years of their time to a college where the staff do not care. The teachers are amazing and actually have knowledge about the subjects they are teaching but they do not care about tutoring any of the students.
